1892  Samuel Renshaw was born. The Renshaw Training System for Aircraft and Ship Recognition earned Renshaw an award from the U.S. Navy. His research was in learning, perception, and memory. He wrote all 23 volumes of the journal Visual Psychology. Renshaw helped found the Midwestern Psychological Association. 
1926  The first letter from Jenny was written by Jenny Masterson. The letters provided a case study of abnormal personality that became the subject of articles and a book, Letters From Jenny (1965), by Gordon Allport. 
1927  Edwin A. Fleishman was born. Fleishman's work in applied psychology concentrated on studies of leadership, engineering psychology, and human performance. APA Distinguished Scientific Award for the Application of Psychology, 1980. 
1937  B. F. Skinner became a member of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology, at the University of Minnesota. The chapter sent a letter to the national office, listing the new members. A special note was written to the side of Skinner's name, with a line drawn from his name to the note. It read, "A true friend of Psi Chi."
1967  The Vermont Psychological Association was incorporated. 
1986  Susan Folkman, Richard S. Lazarus, Rand J. Gruen, and Anita DeLongis's article "Appraisal, Coping, Health Status, and Psychological Symptoms" was published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. 
1989  The APA journal Psychological Assessment: A Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology was first published. The journal was formed from the assessment content of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology. Alan Kazdin served as editor of both journals for the first year.
