1847  Johannes Orth was born. Orth was a founder of the Würzburg School, which stressed the obscure, imageless "nature of thought and conscious processes" 
1905  Florence Rockwood Kluckholn was born. She is known for her contributions in the areas of culture and personality and for her writing about women's issues. 
1982  The Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Learning and Memory began publication under a new name, the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition. Richard M. Shiffrin was editor of the journal at the time. 
1983  The Nicholas Hobbs Laboratory of Human Development was dedicated at Vanderbilt University. Hobbs, an APA president (1966), founded the nation's first mental retardation training program, contributed research that stimulated Project Head Start, and founded programs for emotionally disturbed children in homelike residential centers.
